Kundapur: Veteran leader Mani Gopal leaves BJP in a huff

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Apr 11: Senior BJP leader and former chairman of Kundapur Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Mani Gopal on Wednesday April 10 announced that he would be quitting the party by resigning from its primary membership. It is said that Mani Gopal, whose name was widely in circulation as a possible party candidate for the ensuing assembly election after the resignation of sitting MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty, is angry at the fact that the party leaders cold-shouldered him.

Mani Gopal, who was a Congress loyalist in the past, was brought into the BJP fold by senior politician, A G Kodgi. He had fought the assembly elections against the late Kaup Sanjeev Shetty and Pratapchandra Shetty K as a Congress candidate in 1978 and JNP candidate in 1983 respectively. Then, in 1985 and 1989, he fought against Congress legislator, G S Achar, from Byndoor assembly constituency, with support from Karnataka Kranti Ranga. After Achar breathed his last, he was brought back into Congress fold by Veerappa Moily and Pratapchandra Shetty. He fought the next election in 1994 from Byndoor, but could not register victory because of internal conflicts in the party.

A G Kodgi, who had taken up the task of building BJP in the district, convinced Gopal to reverse his decision of staying away from politics. Kodgi convinced Gopal to join BJP, after which Gopal served as the president of BJP constituency committee president. He was also made chairman of KUDA.

There are rumours that Mani Gopal, who was actively touring the district for furthering the interests of the BJP till recently, was nursing hopes of contesting from Kundapur constituency on a BJP ticket this time after the departure of Halady.

Frustrated at the choice of Kishore Kumar for the seat by the BJP leaders, he has decided to stay aloof, it is felt.

He said that he is disturbed by lack of internal democracy within the BJP, and is therefore, leaving the party. He said his decision is to stay away from politics, but hastened to add that he will take a final decision in consultation with his well-wishers and supporters.

Mani Gopal is a simple and good person. But due to lack of luck every time he was defeated with less margin. He is not from RSS, not rich enough may be for these reason he didn't get ticket this time. But because of his clean image he has got many supporters. Any party ll welcome him.

Mani Gopal is a man with principles, known for his honesty and straight forwardness. He entered politicts at his young age. People still remember his contribution during the time of land reform. That time he was with poor people. If he is seeking for power he would have occupied good position . It's sad that today's youngsters does not have sense of history.

Mani knows the future of BJP, does not the services of Pandit Sharma. Prabhu is right, Kalladka box office story is known to everyone. After elections BJP party office will be for its supporters to play cards.

While looking at the current scenario in Kundapura, majority of local body representatives and some old Leader of BJP (AG Kodgi / Appanna Hegde & many) directly supporting Halady.

I really don’t think Malyadi going to secure 2nd place in list!!

At this rate, BJP will have to shut shop in KA and head back to Nagpur. BJP turned out to be a FLOP MOVIE ...worst than Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag and Abhishek Bachchan's Drona lol.

The reason why leaders from New Delhi did'nt turn up for campaigning in Bangalore the other day was not because of a problem with the aircraft, but because the audience turn out was small.

All parties should have a record of leaders who are principled, fence sitters and power hungry who can not remain without power.
However small parties will always invite anyone as they are in shortage and big parties have a problem of handling plenty.

Even when the BJP pot was not broken there was no water in it. Now the empty pot is only cracking and breaking. Therefore absolutely no loss for anybody in Karnataka.

It is important to know whether this Mani Gopala is a KPB loyalist and RSS man.Whether Mani Gopala was ped/not considered for the reasons best known to Haladi Srinivas Shetty.Whether he has failed to subscribe Kalladkas Box office etc., are the partinent questions to be answered.Coastal BJP candidates have to be first loyal to KPB then comes every thing next.
