Mangalore, May 15: A special meeting regarding the responsibilty of the engineering wing of MCC was held at Mangala Auditorium, Mangalore City Corporation here on Wednesday May 15 at 4 pm.

The meeting was headed by the deputy commissioner and MCC administrator, N Prakash and MCC commissioner Dr Harish Kumar.

The meeting was convened to discuss issues and problems regarding pending developmental works in the city.

The DC urged the engineers to complete all the pending works that have been sanctioned at the earliest, before the start of the rainy season.

The issue that hogged the limelight was the long-pending work on the proposed bus stand at Pumpwell. The project that has seen ups and downs over the years ever since it was first mooted back in 1994 was discussed at length during the meeting. Finally, the DC urged the officials concerned to carry on with the plans, and that he would hold discussions with the new MLAs and take their opinions too.

He further urged all the officials and the engineers to be very strict and sincere in their duty. He also warned the engineers that he would carry out spot inspections to check if the information given by them on the progress of development was genuine or not.

I endorse the views of GRPrabhu. Such kind of discussions, orders, istructions are being repeated every year. a some sort of concrete action has to be taken in a time bound manner. For the last 3 to 4 months nobody was bothered to take these steps. Everyone was bothered about election election election. Common people who were going to Revenue dept. offices and MCC offices were fed up.

Atleast from now onwards the commissioner has to see that the public works like issue of Khatha etc. are issued with least delay. I think that the incompleted and pending works cant be finished within such a short duration of time. This year we can expect artificial floods because of the lethargy of MCC Engineers including the Commissioner.

You have also instructed for cleaning all drainages and removing Mud collected inside gutters before 25th May.
But have you observed that after taking out the mud from gutters, they put it on the bank of the same gutters and forget it. Then after the very first rain this smooth soil flows back into the gutter/Drainage, again clog the drainage after the first rain. So entire exercise goes waste and only the contractors make money.
Therefore, this time give clear instructions to concerned Engineers to ensure that all the mud removed from the Drainage/Gutter is shifted outside the city on the same day, so that the same mud will not go back in the same gutter with the first rain.

It is good to have the dynamic and efficient Mr. N. Prakash back in Mangalore as The Deputy Commissioner. Mr.Harish Kumar and The D.C. make a very good combination and let us hope with the return of the former D.C. to Mangalore all pending jobs will be taken and prioritized.

Mr. Prakash and Mr. Kumar have excellent track records and it can be assumed that the blue prints will turn into realities soon.

SO FAR MANGALORE BUS STAND PLAN WAS KABBINADA KADLEKAII!!!????Political and bureaucratic will power need of the hour.Developing Managlore needs State of the art BUS stand. Why don't newly elected MCC come in to being?Still one month to wait? All developmental works in the preview of MCC should be reviewed by newly constituted MCC because...SIDDU's Mantra 'no2corruptions'and 'Yes2development'Siddu, in fact fought pitched battle against corruptions and everything would be looked in to.
