Johnny Lever's daughter to debut with 'Comedy Circus...'

New Delhi, Jun 30 (IANS): Bollywood comedian Johnny Lever's daughter Jamie J. is all set to tickle your funny bone as a contestant in "Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali".

Her first episode will air July 19 on Sony TV channel.

The 25-year-old said that she went for an audition like any other participant instead of letting her popular father pull strings.

"I went for an audition. They (the selection board) liked my work and called me to attend a three-day workshop. It was a part of selection process during which they tested me. Then they finally selected me. It had nothing to do with me being his (Johnny's) daughter," Jamie told IANS.

She will be seen sharing platform with other stand-up comedians like Bharti Singh and Kapil Sharma and Jamie is excited.

"They are big and it would be amazing to share screen space with them," said the budding comedian.

Jamie has completed her Masters in marketing communication from London, but being on stage always thrilled her.

"I did plays in college. I realised that whenever I went on stage, it made me happy. So instead of continuing with marketing, I decided to do something that gives me joy," she said.

The trained singer can mimic actresses like Sridevi and Deepika Padukone, but she is confident about doing male roles too.

"I've done mimicry of singers like Kailash Kher and Bappi Lahiri. I know how to modulate my voice, so it's easy for me to do a male role," said Jamie, who is constantly guided by her father.

"He tells me how to be on stage and be spontaneous. He points out my weaknesses and strengths," said Johnny's daughter, who told her father about her inclination towards comedy in 2009.

At present, Jamie is occupied with this project till the time she gets evicted. But in future, she would like to do a show that is funny, yet conveys a message.

"I admire International talk show hosts Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres . Maybe, 20 years down the line I will host a show that is funny and also has a message," said Jamie.
