Kundapur: Students should be wary of bad habits - DySP

Kundapur, Jul 10:
“Student life is an important aspect in every individual’s life. This is a stage where students become victim of bad habits. Hence we should make sure that they cultivate only good habits  and thus be a good citizen,” said Kundapur DySp Yashoda S Ontagodi.
 
She addressed the gathering during the drug awareness programme organized by Academy of personal excellence training in collaboration with Bhandarkars College, held on Tuesday July 9.


 
Chinmaya Hospital medical director Dr Umesh Puthran,the  resource person for the programme in his address said, “Modernization has now reached every village. When we accept modernization, we get attracted to foreign countries”.
 
“Even though drugs are banned and not found easily, we find people being prey to it. Once a person consumes drugs, he finds it difficult to break the habit. High dose drugs if consumed, weakens the immune system and sometimes even causes death,” said Dr Puthran.
 
“Consuming drugs is common these days, especially in sport, we find athletes making use of drugs to a large extent. As technology develops, there will be more people prone to consume drugs and hence it is important to create awareness,” he added.
 
College principal Dr N P Narayan Shetty said "we should create awareness among people about the after effects of drugs. For any problems in life, drug is not a end solution, he said.
 
Dr H Shantaram, administrator of Manipal academy of general education, G M Gonda, principal of PU college, APIT trainer K K Shivaram, APIT secretary Raghavendra Charana among others were present.
 
APIT president Hussain Haikady welcomed and compered the programme.
