M'lore: Students’ and Parents’ Assn protests against HRD office

Mangalore, Jul 21: The Students’ and Parents’ Association held a protest against the employment registration office (HRD) demanding its proper functioning as well as security for workers in private institutions and submitted a memorandum to the chief minister through the DC in the city on Saturday July 20.

Addressing the protest, Janardhan Salian, founder president, Rashtriya Vidhyarthi Poshakara Vedike, said, “People of the coastal area are fed up with the functioning of the employment registration office (HRD). Though the unemployed youth register their names with the employment registration office, nobody has got a job. Hence, educated youth are frustrated and being misled.”

Veeresh Bhat, chief convener, Students’ and Parents’ Association, said, “The employment registration office should provide free application forms to unemployed youths. The functioning of the office should be transparent, news about employment, lists of unemployed youth, should be published in dailies. Every month, an employment bulletin should be broadcast. Online application facility should be made available and job fair festivals should be organized.”

On this occasion, Narayana K, district president, Students’ and Parents’ Association, Ratnakar Suvarna, district secretary, Mohammed Sharif, district vice-president, and Lakshman Uchil, district secretary, were present.
