Kasargod: Facebook comment on Prophet stirs protest at Kumble

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod

Kasargod, Jul 21: Hundreds of people gathered on the streets of Kumble here on Saturday July 20 to protest against a comment allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed on social networking site Facebook.

The protest was led by Kumble Muslim United forum.

The protestors marched on streets and staged a protest in front of Kumble police station demanding immediate arrest of some youths from Kumble Mayippady and Naikapu.

The protestors said that a group in Facebook has been posting derogatory comments against Prophet Mohammed since Friday July 20. Several Muslim leaders of Kumble then approached the police seeking to lodge a complaint. The police were reportedly reluctant to file a case.

The leaders warned that if the police do not file a case, a massive protest would be organized. The police then registered the complaint and filed a case, and did not give permission for protest.

Despite police orders, Mulism United forum organized the protest in front of the police station.

The police managed to keep the crowd about 100 metres away from police station and also resorted to lathi charge and tear gas. There were also reports that a few youths pelted stones at a private bus.

It is learnt that the police, with the help of cyber crime cell have begun investigation into the case and two persons have already been arrested from Kannur.

Speaking to reporters, district police chief Thomson Jose that attempts to disturb peace in the district by posting provocative pictures or comments on social networking sites have been going on lately. Strict action will be taken against all those who indulge in such things, he warned.

    Dear readers,

It is a duty of all human being to respect all faith. Some people wrote to complain the matter to facebook. Do you think we get a judtice. When a comment was made about bal thackrey , the entire nation staged protest and trigered violence. But when its Mohammed you want us to keep quite and complain it just to facebook. Why people are so cruel against Islam. Why such an injustice towards us. Why do you all blame us for the acts of 3 % evils of our religion just by having a muslim name. Just understand the religion by its devine book and not by the acts and life of people with muslim names but not a real muslim.
I am not a supporter for throwing stones and creating violence. It is also an evil work of those devils who has a muslim name but not a real practitioner of Islam. Those kind of devils are there in every religion. But one thing to notice here is we have not taken the law and order in our hands. We never went and attacked the culprit. But since India is a democratic country, we staged a protest for justice. I plead all my muslim and non muslim brothers to support for this cause and also condemn against the evils of devils in all religions. Let us not be the prey of them and not be fools.
may peace blessing of Almighty be on all of youm

Nobody should insult any faith. Such act will hurt the feeling of the faithful believers. The accused with his mischievous intention to her the feeling of the Muslim community, should be severely punished for his hate propaganda on Facebook that has created enmity and disharmony in the society.
Since Hinduism, India's dominant religion, being polytheistic and pantheistic, did not have the concept of blasphemy, such laws are absent in tradition. In practice, however, blasphemy is classified as hate speech and prosecuted. In 1860, British rule codified Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code which punishes as hate speech insults or attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of any citizen with deliberate and malicious intention to outrage their religious feelings. These laws are applied to all religions including Hinduism, Sikhism, Christianity and Islam.
Central Government Act Section 295A in the Indian Penal Code, 1860 295A.5[ Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs. Whoever, with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of 6[ citizens of India], 7[ by words, either spoken or written, or by signs or by visible representations or otherwise] insults or attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of that class, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 8[ three years], or with fine, or with both.]
Thus, In India, it is blasphemy to criticise any and all religious or superstitious belief.

I think some issues are beyond our control and one such issue is if anyone try to humiliate Prophet Muhammed SAWS or burning the holy Quraa'n or damaging a Masjid! Allah Subhanavtala has assured all mankind that he will protect his place of worship, Quraa'n, image of Prophet Muhammed SAWS and his Deen which is Islam. AlHamdulillah.
What we can do when the administration, police and power is against one community? At this point in time, just pray to Allah and leave rest to him to take care. In Shaa Allah he will take care of everything. All of you please recite "Hasbunallahu wa niemal wakeelu alallahi tawakkalna" and "Allahumma la sahala illa maa' jaaltahu nahalanv va antha tajalulhazna sahalan izaashiata".
I request all Muslim brothers not to take violence and hurt or damage others I motions, life and properties. Take your protest peacefully and force the authorities to take necessary action. Ramadan is the holy month of giving and forgiving! So be brave and forgive those culprits and become good for the society. Allah will take care In Shaa Allah.

If someone insults a religion on Facebook, the appropriate reaction should be to protest on Facebook, and write to Facebook administrators to block the contents. Wouldn't that be much healthier for the society than scores of people blocking national highway and shutting down businesses ?

Just operating a FaceBook Account isn't everything! There is too much to life.......There wasn't much fighting when the Prophet, Jesus or Krishna where there physically on earth about their teachings or sayings...It's only when they have left the scene all this has started

we can remeber many such incidents like comments on Bal thackery, and photo of shivalinga where these sick people want to create problem in society..The negative effects of these social networking sites overweigh the positive ones. These sites have caused some potential harm to society. The students become victims of social networks more often than anyone else. This is because of the reason that when they are studying or searching their course material online, they get attracted to these sites to kill the boredom in their study time, diverting their attention from their work..

We have two kinds of laws.
    1) Moral Laws.
    2) National laws.
All should adhere to both the laws.
    1) Moral Laws – God is the Judge and He will punish after death.
    2) National Laws – The governments of particular nations have their own set of laws, rules and regulations enacted to have control and the citizens should adhere to it or face punishment on this earth based on the committed crime. Most of the countries have stopped death penalty and only life imprisonment.
SUPPOSEDLY HUMANS KILL HUMANS WHAT IS THE WORK OF GOD THE JUDGE AND HIS MORAL LAWS.
