Beltangady: Police raid illegal slaughterhouse, nab two, nine escape

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Aug 5: Beltangady police on Sunday August 4 raided an illegal abattoir at Indabettu here and arrested two persons.

The arrested persons have been identified as Irshad (23) and Abdul Shabbir (23) of Bangadi.

Nine other accused, identified as Hasan, Hakeem, Nasir, Ismail, Muhammed, Farooq, Moosakunhi alias Kunhi Monu, Irfan and Shabbir, managed to escape, sources said.

The police seized 100 kg of beef during the raid operation.

An Ambassador car and an auto rickshaw used for transportation of meat were also confiscated by the police.

On questioning, Irshad said that the car belonged to Hasan and that the beef found in the car had been brought from Hasan's house.

The police found that the slaughterhouse was located in the premises of Hasan's house. The cattle were being brought in vehicles and slaughtered here, sources said.

The police also seized 6 cattle, including calves. It has been revealed that the cattle were stolen and brought here for slaughtering. It is said that the beef seized by the police was worth Rs 11,000.

Sources said that there is political pressure on the police to hush up the case.

The raid comes in the wake of several cases of cattle theft reported in the coastal districts over the past few days. Police have tightened security to nab cattle thieves.

Beltangady police have registered a case.

    you are right
We have no such problem in Bangalore at all.
No cow thieves, no cow thefts and no illegal moral police\cattle slaughter places, just because it is available openly in authorised shops.. It's that simple.

But when it is made into a business for themselves by the so called cow protectors\moral police, then they had to make this rule in certain part of Karnataka, so they can benefit more and more by selling stolen cattle meat and once in a while the ones they used to show those that are caught during illegal transportation.
Now that moral policing is stopped, their business has suffered and cannot buy cattle for their illegal slaughter as such there is sudden spurt in cattle thefts since the new Govt. has come to power.
This will lessen once they are all caught.
Police have to just keep an eye on those moral police people and everything will be solved.

To eradicate this problem make cow slaughter legal in India. Then see what happens. Beef eater will ensure they get the clean meat. They will not buy from the street. All the illegal transportation and killing of the cattle will stop. People can stay on their choice of eating meat. Prices of meat will comedown. People can sell their age old cattle legally. Look at the other countries of the world and follow them. Why only India stands isolated in this issue?

Some brains have commented here that the police are going behind cow snatchers than chasing rapists and and other criminals.
but one should understand that the police are trying to curb a menace that can fire up communal riots in DK.

Can the government think why this ill-legal activities happen.... This is only because they the people who used sell beef and take care of thier families are restricted to sell beef.. Do they have any choice then doing this ill-legal activities. Hey Guys!! Please allow them to sell beef.. so that they can take care of thier dependents.. n people who do not eat... dont buy.. simple.. IF U IMPOSE ON STOPPING BEEF.. THEN U SHOULD IMPOSE ON ALL THE OTHE MEAT (MUTTON, CHICKEN, PORK) EVEN THEY HAVE LIVES... EVEN FISHING SHOULD BE STOPPED...

    Abdul Rafiq & others

Do not worry what happens to the meat in sacks.
Important thing, law is in place, it is working, it is getting effective day by day and we will support these actions with congratulating the police force.

There is no chasing, there is no bashing, there is no unnecessary hype of some organisation taking law into their own hands.
If anybody comes across any illegal activity, inform the authorities concerned and the present Government will surely deal with the matters.

Rejoice - We have a good Government in Karnataka now.

    Police - well done.

Theft of cows and its illegal transportation to illegal slaughter houses are increasing day by day. Of late we have read about such cases in news papers. Now the Police have started to investigate and detect such illegal slaughter houses. Why they did not spot such places earlier than this? Thats why moral policing was started to stop this beef activities.

    Pinto,

When you go to hotel you never know from where the food has come from, how it has been transported or how it has prepared but still you consume it.

Yeh India hai boss idhar sab kuch chal ta hai, We Indians are very good in adjusting to any kind of Situations.

Food control authority should strictly take action on these matters, but at the end of day all my words are in vain.

It is a shame that we are filling our stomach to slaughter animals illegally. Slaughtering animals takes place all over the world but doing it illegally that too by robbing them from people who own it is too dangerous. It is a known fact that many people own cows for their daily bread but these thieves rob them for their selfish needs. Time strict law is implemented in killing animals illegally. Just as we have a law for stray dogs, so also there be a law for all animals who cannot be protected by the common man but gives a absolute right to police to arrest them immediately.
