Mumbai, Aug 5: Talk of audacity, and you won't get a better example than this. Call it daring or downright stupid, a domestic help, after looting his employers of Rs 25 lac, sent them a friend request on Facebook, which of course land him in police net!

Amusing as it may seem, Suvabrata Sanyal (25), has been on the run for four months, until his one mistake got him caught.

In April this year, Sanyal looted cash and valuables worth Rs 25 lac from his employers - retired marine engineer Deepak Raut (69) and his wife Amita (65) who live at Vashi in Navi Mumbai. He spiked their sweet dish, and then robbed them of the valuables before fleeing the place. And he did it just a week after he got the job.

Ever since then, he has been on the run. The family had lost hopes of ever getting their valuables back, as the police could not find any clue of his whereabouts and the agency that had recommended him had no details of his address or past record.

However, on July 24, when the couple checked their Facebook, they were surprised to see a friend request from Sanyal. Their son and daughter, who stay in US and Pune respectively, had also received the friend request from him. To make sure that the family recognized him, Sanyal also posted his profile picture and kept changing it to drive home the point that it was indeed him.

The couple passed on this information to the police, who easily tracked him down in Kolkata through the cyber cell.

Double trouble

That's not all. When the police team located and finally reached Sanyal's house in Kolkata, they were perplexed to find that Sanyal had an identical twin who even dressed like him. To avoid arresting the wrong man, the police waited till one of them stepped out of the house, and by keeping a track on Sanyal's mobile number, caught him.

On being questioned, Sanyal reportedly said that he just wanted to poke fun at his victims and check out why police had failed to catch him even after three months. Unfortunately for him, he did not know that police could trace his mobile number when he used it for accessing the internet.
