Mangalore: Congress members make second visit to Niddodi, succeed

News: Sunil Haleangady
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 11: Less than a fortnight after Niddodi rose in protest against a team of district Congress committee members who had visited the village in connection with the proposed ultra mega power plant, the Congress members led by P V Mohan again visited the place on Saturday August 10 and this time, they were successful in carrying out the inspection.

The team visited Bangerapadavu near Niddodi. It visited the proposed spot where the thermal power plant would come up and also visited nearby areas. The team is expected to submit a detailed report on the pros and cons of establishing the thermal power plant at Niddodi to All India Congress Committee.

The team visited the agricultural fields, farms and arecanut gardens of retired teacher Chandaiah Suvarna who has been cultivating three crops a year for the last 75 years, Dinkar Shetty, Mohan of Niddodi-Bava, Rama Suvarna, Sadanand Poojary. The team also paid visit to various places in Kallamundkoor, Mucchoor, Ashwathapura, Thenka Mijar. Mucchoor is well-known for dairy farming for long. The major occupations of the people living in and around Niddodi are agricultural and animal husbandry. People cultivate paddy, betel nuts, coconuts, betel leaves, black pepper here.

"Though 75% of the land earmarked for the proposed project is agricultural land, the central committee had termed it as barren land. We do not know as to what yardstick the central team used in terming such a fertile land as barren land. Further this region also is cradle for several temples, churches as well as other holy places. Hence we shall not give up this sacred land for the establishment of any project which is dangerous to the nature as well as our own existence," said Mathrubhoomi Samrakshana Samiti members who were also present on the occasion.

"The departmental officials had visited Niddodi and surrounding areas earlier without giving any prior information to anyone concerned. Yet when we tried to know about this through RTI, no information about such visit was found. All the gram panchayats in and around Niddodi have passed resolution against the setting up of the project. Hence measures must be taken in order to prevent the establishment of this thermal power plant here," said Joachim Correa, the president of Kallamundkoor panchayat.

AICC member P V Mohan who led the team said that they could not visit the area a fortnight ago. But now that they have visited and noted that the proposed land is a fertile place and agriculture is the major occupation of the residents, they would give a factual report to union minister Oscar Fernandes and shall make him aware about the people’s unwillingness to allow the establishment of the thermal power plant in Niddodi.

KPCC DK secretary Balakrishna Shetty, Mathrubhoomi Samrakshana Samiti president Alphonse D’Souza, coordinator Kiran Manjathabail, Poovappa Gowda and others too were present on the occasion.

The team had visited Niddodi on July 29 to furnish a report, but the angry locals protested and greeted them with footwear and brooms. The team had to return empty-handed.

Why you are miking personal comments. What is your contribution towards this nation?. You have not gone to USA for farming and promote greenery.Agriculture should be carried out scientific way not the olden days system by taking the bafellows to the field. There should be no scarcity for electricity, water and food. If the supply is less demand is more then there is hoardings. Along with greenery sunlight is more important. Sun is responsible for our life. That why Hindus worship sun, they are right if we study the solar system. The person who look out is carrier is for himself. The organization registered with charity commissioner they should take care needy people. In spite of this charity money is swindled by many. I have seen with my own eyes. There are our close relatives are in USA, I know what they are doing. Such type of jobs availalble here but they reluctant to take it.

Mr. Harry you cannot create anything without something. You need seeds to grow plants and trees. So we are all interconnected, we are all dependent and we all need each other. When we are sick we do not go to a lawyer but we go to the hospital to see a doctor. The doctor will recommend the diet according to the patient's illness. When we are hungry we eat food so we go and eat either home made food or to a restaurant and drink water. If you do not have fiber in your diet you will have lot of problems in your digestive system because fiber comes from vegetables and fruits. Every one are important in this world, everyone have their own profession. You cannot be a defending lawyer and a judge at the same time. So every body is important and they are paid according to their skills and ability. We have education because of the teachers and not because of the lawyers. Some People, not all, who are handicapped or mentally challenged do not have a profession and are not able to work and earn a living, it does not mean that we should throw them out of this world. All these creations are from God. So this is God's world and not ours. We all have to respect each other. Give respect and take respect, love one another. As you know money cannot buy everything but it can only save a life. But without food and touch of a person you cannot survive.

Mr. Harry you have a very poor knowledge of science. Plants remove CO2 during the day by combining it with water to make a simple carbohydrate. Plants then turn the carbohydrate into sugars like glucose, using chemical energy stored in another substance known as ATP. Solar energy is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen combines with CO2 to form carbohydrates. The oxygen is released into the atmosphere as a byproduct. This process is known as photosynthesis.

During the night, plants use oxygen to extract chemical energy in sugars and make more ATP. This process is known as respiration. It differs from combustion because the energy evolved is not in the form of heat or light.
Again Mr. Harry Everything has its own place. Why does a lawyer defend a criminal even when the criminal admits he has committed the crime. The lawyer always twists the story and tries to prove the truth as false and false as true. It is a profession and there is money there. I dont blame on it. God created everyone with different talents and gifts. But we are equal in the eyes of God. Agriculture is the most important and backbone of India and people depend on the monsoons. So please provide the farmers with green houses and rain water collection before you Grab their land. Whereas a lawyer depends on summons as you said. According to you, you want to suppress the Agriculturists and the farmers by taking away their land. Do you know how the pharmaceutical companies are run, how the cotton industry is run, How many people are starving in this world. Why there is a UNICEF. The lawyer does not fight for those children, but the children are fighting for other children.
Mr. Harry use the alternate technology for producing power. Have you ever heard of Mr. Elon Musk, if you have not heard of him then I would advice you to know about him right now. Have you heard about TESLA Motors and TESLA Hyperloop. That is called money and not what you talk about.

The air we can not see but we experience. Air contains oxygen and carbon dioxide. We inhale oxygen and leave carbon dioxide. If the air only carbon dioxide or oxygen we will not be able to live. Like that industrialization is also more important along with agriculture. There should be balance in everywhere. Why the people keep note, money in the locker not in go down?. Banking is industry the biggest industry in the world and people are eager to seek job in that because they are good pay masters.

When you get the summons from Criminal or Civil Court you approach lawyer for remedy and do not got to doctor. The freedom from British was brought to this nation by the Lawyers only. When Lord William Ben-tick introduced the education system, there was opposition in British Parliament saying that it become counterproductive. Nobody eat note it is instrument for purchase. Why the bank are functioning. Grains are stored in go downs. People who migrated to the outside the state not producing grains, they go for money. even in the place of worship facility made to collect money. Later on who uses this God knows. The person who in America come in the native place will cultivate the land or roam with new model cars.

Mr. Harry you have a poor knowledge about the outside world. Most of the countries in the world are leading producer of grains because they have invested in modern agriculture technology, research and equipment. I think you have not been to Punjab. 75% of the population are agriculturist and they depend on agriculture. Even in United States the rich people are farmers. If you have ever heard of North Dakota where USA is drilling oil in Agricultural land, the farmers still own the land and the government pays them Royalty for drilling oil in their land. The government did not grab their land because they found oil in their land. Please learn good lessons from them.

Mr. Harry, Provide the farmers with water supply through canals, irrigation system, proper Machinery, Manure, Subsidy and promotes greenery. According to your statement people do not pick up grains but they pick up money. Do you eat money or do you eat food grains. What digests in your stomach money or the food grains. Indian Government does not provide necessary subsidy and water supply to the farmers. Water Canals must be built to provide water for irrigation. Rain water collection is very important. Switzerland is surrounded by mountains. Cultivation of grain was promoted after the second world war. Switzerland lays great stress on environmentally friendly farming, although it involves greater costs. There was an upsurge in the number of farms producing organic food in the 1990s. By 2009 some 11.1% of all farms had been awarded the organic symbol: a white bud in a green circle. Organic farming is particularly popular in mountain areas. Figures issued by the Federal Statistical Office showed that in 2009 20% of mountain farms were organic. That year the Swiss spent 170 francs per head on organic produce, in particular vegetables, fruit and eggs. Switzerland population is not as big as India. India needs more food grains. So Organic farming is the answer and not pollution to destroy the agricultural land. Please do not turn Mangalore into Bhopal. There are so many ways to produce green energy, use solar Power

In rainy season all the area become green. What about in the month of April and May. Nobody will dig the well in rainy season, it will be dug in the month of April May. The D.K. dist and Udupi Dist has no pleato of river to make them fertile during the rainy season. There ate few places there where the agriculture is worked out. The people who have become high fie will not work in the sun. The land here become costly due to fast development of residential and commercial. The people who settled outside the state when the land become for sale-able, they stake for their share. The person who believed for years and lived for ancestral land has to give share to others. The People who migrated from there wanted the land should disposed up.

High Drama @ Niddodi. I agree that land is green and fertile but no farmer or land lord never cultivate anything in their land due to high cost of the routine and unimaginable demand on daily wages by the laboures in recent years. In this case what ever Govt compensate, accept it. Anyway we are in a practice of selling land in recent years in order to have less headache and easy life to live.Keep it in mind industrialization is the only way you will be benefited through getting right job for your future generation. No children will cook at home they are already habitual on current scenario of fast foods.Do not rely on any politicians,NGO's or environment organizations. All are required to live money anyhow...! Niddodi residents to think and act. Do not allow anybody to indulge their dirty game of protect your green land. Anyhow no more green all concrete jungle in coming days. This is the fact remains.

Hence the govt. brought land reform act to give the land who is farming, it is not wrong. After getting the land free they have built their own houses to reside before they use to reside in thatched houses or huts. They gave education to their children and become high fie. Who do not want money?. If grain is found on the street nobody picks it up but if the money is found on the street nobody leave it. Due to the huge population of India industrialization is very much necessary. When the Kuwait invasion took place you must have seen the fate of the people. Industries do not produce grains, They only process. Agriculture is the backbone of every living thing. Once upon a time you were an agriculturist, You left this job because the government did not provide you the necessary equipment and water supply for your agricultural land. If you were an agriculturist or a farmer you would have produced good organic food to keep you healthy. You are now an advocate so you produce nothing. But you earn money to buy the food that is filled with pest control chemicals and harmful for your health. Imagine what will happen to the billion plus people living in India who depend on organic healthy food. You have to import more food grains to feed that population and run your industries. So finally the import bill will go up and you need more dollars to pay the import bill . That will again lead to collapse of the Indian Rupee and finally India will be out of the elite Trillion Dollar Club of world economies, and People like Mr.Raghuram Rajan a star economist have to come to the rescue from USA

Once upon time I was also a agriculturist. As per my father's advice I gave it up. Now I think I have taken the right decision in my life and now I reside here living a comfortable city life. Once upon a time Mumbai sub-burban was a agricultural land now it has become commercial and residential area. The original inhabitant have got hefty amount for their baren and agricultural land and they have become financially sound. Agriculture is required to produce food, but it will not generate employment and money power of the people. These agriculturist are sending their children to the school after completing their education they also do the agriculture? no. They are trying the job with the state or outside the state. How many people of niddodi have come to Mumbai and other cities for employment? and out of the country. Our thinking is very backward we have to change our life style and lead a scientific life and move forward in this world. Those who are opposing project whether they are having power supply or not?, that power supply come from the place some people lost the agricultural land for power. During the congress rule majority of these land holder got free land as fer land reformation act which was brought during the congress rule without paying penny to the land lord. We want everything, land, money, job, power, water, road, how it is possible if the certain people are not parting the land for the project. Nowadays govt. is paying market price for that. People want to sell their land to builder for higher premium. If we want to develop our nation we should have vision.

Right said Adv Harry D Souza
Land reforms act is the main reason for people to drift away from Agriculture. In order to lure a section of the society for votes, Congress brought this law without considering the future affects of the same. Original Land owners lost their fertile cultivated lands overnight. What was left was not economically profitable for them to cultivate, on the other hand Tenants who got Free land became land owners overnight. Until yesterday they used to work in the field and cultivate, but overnight the same job what they did yesterday ashamed them as today even they are land owners. This added up to Labor shortage to already suffering original land owners. On top of this for new land owners also could not cultivate their new property as they could not afford the labor nor did they also want to work in it. Instead sold the fertile land to real-estate and moved towards cites to stay in flats. This trend is being continued till today added by some cheap Govt schemes like 1 Rs rice thus giving reasons for people that they don’t have to work for that also anymore . Even we had to just abandon our fertile paddy fields because of the same labor issue’s ,that’s why we are slogging here in Gulf. Rice which is a Staple food of India, which once we used to export to other countries today we are importing rice to felicitate the Govt cheap price schemes, then how can we think of improving our GDP when we cannot produce a basic food crop ? . Technology is only for the filled Tummies(not as a freebie from the Govt).
