Visa on arrival for foreigners at Bangalore airport

Visa on arrival for foreigners at Bangalore airport

Bangalore, Aug 17 (IANS):
Foreign nationals from 11 countries will be issued visas on arrival at the Bangalore international airport starting Saturday, officials said.

"Visa with 30-days validity will be stamped on the foreigners' passport soon after they land at the airport and pay $60 fee as its charges. The visa can be extended by a month after due diligence by the immigration authority," an airport official told IANS.

The facility will be initially available to people from Cambodia, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Luxembourg, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam on arrival with a passport with at least six-month validity.

"The visa on arrival policy is to encourage visitors from these countries to travel to India even at a short notice, for sightseeing, leisure holiday, wellness and short business work," the official said.

The airport operator BIAL (Bangalore International Airport Ltd) has made spacious arrangements at the international arrival lounge to issue the on-arrival visas, with separate seating facility and help desks in the immigration area.

"We are in the process of setting up separate counters for foreign exchange and taking photographs of visitors in compliance with the immigration rules and regulations," the official added.

To ensure the visitors leave the city on expiry of the visa, they will have to produce a copy of the return ticket, hotel confirmation in the city or state and local contact, if any.

As the third busiest airport in the country after Mumbai and New Delhi, Bangalore daily handles about 400 passenger and cargo flights of domestic and international airlines.

Located about 40 km from this tech hub, at Devanahalli off national highway 7, the greenfield airport was built in 2008 by the BIAL consortium under the public-private partnership mode with a capacity to handle 12 million passengers per annum.

Having reached the capacity, the Terminal-1 is being expanded this year to accommodate about 16 million passengers.

This is an excellent move by the Karnataka Government as it is a significant boost for tourism. When we visit other countries they respect us immensely. Few days ago I was in Canada and proud to say people are awesome there. Therefore we must be humble and respectful to foreigners. When they go back must say Indian people are peaceful and just awesome.

Yes india and all the state is do is best.

but our people will build beautiful house and bldgs, bbut they not put little cement for damaged road, which is in front of their house.

it is really very sad, everybody waiting for govt. last seventeen days I am in mangalore people don't follow rules, reckless driving, no track, no safe distance between vehicle, no signal light, poor road, I think 99% drivers in india don’t know the rules. selfish people.

I am trying my best to close some ponds near our house. I thought public will watch and they also will do same. but still people just give little smile.

Any way i really like above service. but govt have include more country. after all our country is one of beautiful and historic country.

Used to come to India every year. The hygiene is the worst even compared to African countries.Cheating is common including on the trains and train ticket collectors specially from Goa.Olden days customs were a night mare.Unless India takes care of the slums, it is bye bye tourism for India.Indians the rich, and expatriates these days have weddings and parties in other countries for the reasons of security and hygiene. Plus the cost of tourism is much less in south east Asia than in India.

Tourism in India is difficult to see development.

I m just giving two points here:

    1. 6 years back a foreign tourist was raped by a engineering student in Karwar/Gokarna beach.

    2. This was shown in Suvarna News a month back - Two foreign ladies took an auto in Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore to reach their home. Auto driver told fare will be Rs 100 before only. But however when they reached destination he demanded 300 Rs. When two ladies denied this, he abused them in bad language and SPAT ON THEIR FACE. Ladies gave compliant in local police station.

Obviously when these foreigners return home they share these experience in blogs, websites and friends.

As per my experience in foreign countries they respect us as their own even more.help in every possible things.Only we in foreign countries have to respect them and dont go against rules.what is the use of having good scenaries and visa facilities if they feel no Hygiene and outside People cheat them

Get down at Bangalore International Airport and take a shuttle directly to Majestic.

You will be welcomed with stinking/dirty surroundings and roads and men standing at bus stand corners and peeing.

Go to Mumbai....Dharavi fragrance welcomes you.

Lot of factors are dependent on Tourism...of which security is the first and top most factor.

As long as looting, raping, murdering and communal violence lasts in India...Tourism will not grow to it's limits. Tourists always think 10 times before ing to fly to India. India has to come tough on law & order and security of tourists and assistance to them.

Forget Tourists...Indian expats working overseas before making plans to visit their home country tend to check if conditions back home are safe to travel so that they don't end up ruining their vacations.

Recently an Palestinian national who wanted to visit Shimla/ Nainital on a visit had started making his necessary arrangements to travel India, But somehow when he started collecting the information he came across the rapes which were taken place recently in India. As he was travelling with his family he changed the plan to travel Sri Lanka instead. And this person is my collegue.
