Mangalore, Aug 25: The activists of VHP and Bajrang Dal, here on Sunday August 25 held a massive protest and a road block against the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Bhai Togadia in Ayodhya.

The protestors marched from VHP office in PVS towards Bunts Hostel and blocked the Bunts Hostel Circle, thus expressing their anger against the Central government.

The traffic around these areas came to a stand still for about 10 minutes. Soon after, with the intervention of the police, the protestors had to clear the spot.

Addressing the protestors, VHP leader Jagadish Shenava expressed his anger against the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia. A massive protest is also planned to be held on August 26 from 10 am in front of the Town Hall here, he added.

Pravin Togadia and Ashok Singhal were arrested in a massive crackdown by the Central Government to enforce its ban on the yatra which was symbolically inaugurated by the saffron outfit in Ayodhya. Togadia was arrested from Ayodhya, while Singhal was taken into custody at Lucknow airport.

Singhal, who arrived from New Delhi with Swamy Ram Bhadracharya, was arrested at Lucknow when he insisted on visiting Ayodhya.

Leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Shivanand Mendon, Gopal Kuthar, Jeethendra Kottary, Pradeep Pumpwell, Punith Pumpwell, Bhujanga Kulal and others were present during the protest.

Under both international and local law, using children under 18 years as a tool for politics and placing these children at severe risk of death or injury is illegal.

UNICEF acknowledges reports of child exploitation by political groups

The following statement was released by UNICEF in response to outrage over ‘child abuse’ at demonstrations:

“UNICEF is deeply concerned by reports that children have been killed or injured during the confrontations in over recent days. Disturbing images of children taken during street protests indicate that, on some occasions, children have been deliberately used and put at risk of witnessing or becoming actual victims of violence. Such actions can have a long-lasting and devastating physical and psychological impact on children. We call on all Indians and political groups not to exploit children for political ends, and to protect them from any potential harm.”

Though our Streets cannot independently call on government, UNICEF, or others to help ensure that Indian children are kept safe form such abuse, concerned citizens of India and the world can, by ensuring that this child abuse is reported to relevant authorities, including local and foreign government representatives, NGOs, and the media.

What did they gain or achieved from this senseless protest except ruining their own image ? How did it benefit the society ? Why are they so restless and feel lost after Congress rule ? Why educated and peace loving Hindus have not participated in this protest march ? I feel pity for this group of jobless, lazy, illiterate losers. Above all, I truly feel sad to see how an innocent kid is being inflated with poison of hatred towards fellow Indian. Such parents should be punished severely. Are they proud to put this child in front of Media ? This proves the quality of his father. Pls. teach the children 'Vande Maatharam', not hatred and goondagiri. Jai Hind.

ridiculous - instead of focusing on how to revive the economy - the politicians are splitting people on communal lines.. seems like we have gone to stone ages.. instead of development we talk on building places of worships..instead of jobs and building infrastructure, roads and businesses we talk of building places of worships... sad and truly sorry at the way we are thinking... but then religion is the opium for people when they have nothing - abject poverty or have too much - super rich...NOT for the middle class who pay for the costs of running this country.
BJP instead of focusing on a clean sweep based on how to remove corruption is whipping communal passions...

I am really very saddened to see almost a toddler who knows nothing in this protest. Is this some kind of fancy dress for the little Kid?

Not only Ashok Singal and Pravin Thogadia were arrested, there are several others also were arrested. Instead of creating nuisance in Mangalore...go to UP and join them, atleast nonsense in Mangalore will be reduced and Mangaloreans can sleep comfortably for some days at least.

What I see from these pictures how a little child's mind is fed with hatred towards his fellow human beings. I can imagine how he will turn up when he grows up.
