I just found out that MCC is a 100 year old bank, but couldn't quite figure as to why it hasn't grown like the other home grown banks such as Syndicate, Canara, Karnataka Bank in the past 100 years?

I just read somewhere that this bank doesn't have any major presence outside Mangalore -Udupi belt.

With all this one gets a feeling that apart from small profits the bank hasn't done anything significant to grow and become a major banking powerhouse in the past century. It appears that there is lack of professionalism ,infighting, lack of vision and goal.

Maybe the community should think of outsourcing the administration to professionals.

Not only there should be no politics in Bank elections, the election system should be changed !

No group system should be allowed. Just for example, see how well the black sheeps in the groups eleminated by the clever shareholders ?

Since there are quite number of candidates in the field, share holders may confuse the names. Therefore candidates photo should be printed along with the name.

Congrats to the newly elected directors. We would want Mr Francis Cutinho to be the chairman and lead the bank for the next five years. Mr. Francis is ambitious, and we know the bank will reach greater heights in the coming years.
God bless you and your team.

Some Vested interests have played a vital role in electing the un educated directors. we can see it in the celebration as people lifting a person who doesnt even stood for election. The bank was in trouble and Mr. D'Cunha was able to do only fire fighting for his tenure. Unfortunately he did not get a chance to take the bank towards the success as his team did not gain majority. Its a time to withdraw the stakes as we dont want loose our hard earned money.

No doubt that Mr. Melwin D'cuna has done a good work as the president that is the reason why he is elected again so that he can continue to contribute his rich experience in the best interest of share holders/bank.

I am sure share holders did a good choice. They ed the best. It is a good mix. Let the director's elected do not indulge in Crabe (Kurli) game but dedicate themselves in the good work rising beyond groupism.

Its the victory of shareholders. I read very silly comments without understanding the actual situation of the Bank. One of the highest turnouts we note for this elections. Bank records show about 20000 members but the fact is Many are deceased and most of them are abroad. What do you mean by saying 18% turnouts?.
Each ballet paper minutely if you Analise more than 50% have opted mix candidates from 3 groups this shows clear intention of opting good candidates rather than a particular group.Final results shows the margin of few tens between the winners and losers
In the history of MCC Bank so far no group has been appreciated after their tenure (shall we call it as Mangalorean mentality?). Its important to understand the Education level, Success in their chosen fields and good character which is most important and surpasses all other qualities to ably lead the Bank.
Wishing all the very best the newly elected team members.Lead the Bank to greater level.
Big thank you to the Past Board for taking the Bank on the right path.

It is very unfortunate to see that MR.MELVYN D'CUNHA's team did not get majority at the concluded election. He and his team had done a splendid job at bringing the bank towards success in the recent years.

It is unlikely that the bank is going to see any further progress. How can the future Chairman with minimum education and a person who cannot converse in english be a chairman. People should think about it.

And hats off Mr. Melvin for doing a great job.

Regarding MCC bank Sri Dolphy F Lobo raised his voice several time then in Weekly- Mithr 25 years before. And in this 25 years we could have reached far beyond like ICICI,Kotak,HDFC etc and as per my knowledge these are junior banks to ICIC.
Again but not last Introduce some deposit scheem for NRI'S like 1 lac deposit scheem,2lac deposit scheem & 5 lac deposit scheem and also Child education benifit ecucation scheem like 'CAN CHAMP' then you see your growth. Past is fased let us see positive growth at least henceforth and together we will make a difference so that our next generation would not follow same political history.

Another Catholic Institution from Mangalore in the news with all the wrong reasons.
CASK and the running battle between two groups that resulted in Court cases, blackballing, police raids, ITax inquiries, etc and now this MCC Bank three groups using money power to get control.
When are we going to learn: after everything is lost.
Wake up Mangalorean Catholics (not forgetting them in other cities of India where too faction-ism is showing its ugly head).

Despite bad propaganda and huge money spent on advertisements and canvasing, it should be noted that Dr. Edward Nazareth got maximum votes(1864), followed by Melwyn D'Cunha(1795).Mr. Edmond Frank polled 1637 votes and is in the 4th place. The losers from Melwyn D'Cunha's team have lost by a thin margin of 5 to 15 votes.
The winner team has promised 20% dividend, 2% of the profit to be donated to churches and institutions etc. I hope they work hard to keep up the promises. I am sure gentlemen like Dr. Edward,Mr. Melwyn and Mr. Edmond will see that the trust kept on them by majority of the shareholders is fulfilled. Let these people live beyond politics and work for uplifting the bank.

It is most unfortunate thet some of the readers consider Melwyn Dcunha more than democracy. We are in India and not in petty Arabian Sultanate. Bank is more important than Dcunha and his team. The members are the real masters of the bank. If they have no trust in the team they have all right to change. respect the mandate of the members. In the 2008 elections voter turnout was less than 10% why worry only this time.

It is sad to hear about the defeat of selfless leader Melvin D'Cunhas Team.

I have read one article, one of the opposite team mentioned about Melvins was ' Chairman in Dubai, bank in Mangalore'. Even though Mevin he used stay in Dubai for his business purpose, but his heart always there for MCC, we should remember that without getting any remuneration from MCC, for the sake of bank he used to travel from Dubai to Mangalore, he used to consult with many bankers from dubai and also many entrepreneurs, he was always dreamed about how to develop MCC.
I had a believe that Melvins team should win, because he had a better plan for next yers, but it is sad that while doing so much for MCC, Melvins defeat is really hurted us lot.

Anyhow its election, wish and request new team to work for the benefit of MCC, let MCC shines and grow.

It is disgusting to see the money spent behind this election by some of the groups. Also the negative efforts to spoil others name and somehow get elected was felt by all. 12% polling is very low. Dear winners, kindly stop your inside politics now itself. Also there is a rumor that strong chit-fund lobby was behind few candidates. If true, in future, this chit fund lobby may try to divert bank funds for their personal gains. Also this chit fund lobby may try to divert bank's good clients and may cause loss to bank.

So all directors need to be united. Forget the past rivalry and enemity and start a fresh start. The great personalities like Judy Pinto, Alwyn Patrao...it is your responsibility to balance the bad spirits and to bring unity among directors.
