Kasargod, Sep 7: A theft was reported at the residence of sales tax official M V Radhakrishnan here on Friday September 6. The house is located at Mattalayi.

The thieves broke open the door of the house and took away 60 sovereigns of gold and Rs 30,000 in cash. The theft came to light on Friday evening.

Radhakrishnan and his wife Rajalaxmi, who is Hosadurga deputy tahsildar, had gone to work on Friday morning.  Their son, Kasargod darga secondary school student Rajesh discovered the theft when he came back from school.

When Rajesh could not open the front door and the neighbors came to help him, it was observed that the door of the first floor was broken open. The thieves entered by breaking the door lock on the first floor.  The jewellery and cash in the cupboard were stolen.

A pickaxe kept in a nearby car shed is said to have been used to break open the door.

District police chief Thomson and his team has arrived at the spot. Hosadurga Dy SP P Thamban, dog squad and fingerprint experts investigated the spot.

One must be either a maron or mad to comment about the people who have lost their money. Do you people know that it is a illegal money? Not all public servants are corrupt. If it is a corruption money they would not have given the complaint. About the dog- that is how they are fed trace scent and he and his doing correctly. The problem is your perception.

The dog is refusing to act because it knows that it was not the hard earned money and gold of the tax official. Tax official itself is a thief so the dog is doing the right thing.

Thieves raid Sales Tax official's house. Time is changing!

At the current price of Rs. 22,000.- per Sov.(approx.)total worth of 60 sovereigns would be Rs. 13,00,000.- is it questionable.?

The robber must have had prior knowledge about the fortune. Let us wait for the outcome of police investigation.

People are not wise even after so many stories of day light robberies. Now a days people even steal cloths if they find they are new and good condition. I have lost some branded underwear which was put for drying after wash and I had just gone to market for 1 hour.

You comment sounds all officials are corrupt. Do you know him that he takes bribe. Accusing someone without any proof is unfair.

We can not generalise and brand all the officials that the wealth they possess thru illegal means. I do not deny some are corrupt but not all.
