Special screening of 'Naiyaandi' for Nazriya

Chennai, Oct 9 (IANS): Southern actress Nazriya, who accused director A. Sarkunam of using a body double to shoot intimate scenes in Tamil romantic-comedy "Naiyaandi", will watch it at a private screening Wednesday with her father and advocate to decide her next course of action.

On Tuesday, Nazriya filed a police complaint against director Sarkunam for using a double and canning scenes without her permission.

"Since she wants to watch the film before its release, we have organised special screening for her. She claims that the director might have added extra scenes with the double. In her police complaint, she requested for a special screening of the film before its release," a member from the film's unit told IANS.

On Sunday, Nazriya lodged a complaint with the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) against director Sarkunam and producer S. Kathiresan asking for immediate action.

She alleged that one of the scenes in the film's trailer featured a body double and when she contacted the director, he told her that since she was unwilling to shoot that particular scene he used a double.

The scene she was referring to is one where Dhanush, her co-star, hugs her from behind.

Director A. Sarkunam, taking a strong stance against the allegation, said that the actress had given him permission to use a double.

"After we finished shooting the song 'Inika Inika', I wanted to shoot one extra close up shot to be included in it. I contacted Nazriya and requested her to come and shoot it but since she was busy in Kerala she asked me to use a double and finish it," Sarkunam said in a statement.

"I don't understand how she can make these accusations against me. She also claimed that I shot some portion of the song with a double, which she claims was shown in the trailer. I challenge her to watch the film with the media and prove it," he added.

Sarkunam is willing to delete the scene featuring a double.

"If she wants me to delete the close up shot featuring a body double, I'm ready to do it. But, I won't delete the entire song from the film. If she wants me to delete it, she should prove that the song also features a double," he said.
