Pick anarkali suit according to body type

New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS): It’s festive season and anarkali suit is one of the most preferred traditional outfits among women but one needs to pick the right style to suit the body frame, says an expert.

Fashion designer Kritika Dawar says the tall and slim ones can try any style and have nothing to worry about. The shorter and plump ones need to be more careful.

“Go for a single colour and go easy on the flare. If you are plump, go for anarkalis in which kalis start from the shoulder instead of waist. This gives an illusion of height and makes you look slim,” Dawar told IANS.

Nikhil Mehra, director, Kynaa fashion boutique suggests A-line anarkali with short borders for shorter women.

Dawar recommends to mix black and gold with colours such as red and pink for festivals.

“For weddings, the colour palette can be a combination of ruby, rose and gold or a pomegranate, peach, teal and gold,” said Dawar and added: “For receptions, you may go in for a combination of aqua and corals.”

The fashion designer said the suits should have bling element, but shouldn’t have excess of it.

“Traditional gold embroidery is any day better option than Swarovski and crystal work,” said Dawar.

Ishita Saluja, director, Kynaa fashion boutique says zari and thread work look elegant on anarkalis and can be worn during marriages.
