Mangalore: Speeding lorries collide near Gurpur bridge

Mangalore, Nov 1: A tipper plying from Mangalore to Gurupur collided with a lorry moving towards Mangalore here on Friday November 1.

The incident took place at around 7 am at a spot around 12 km away from Mangalore, between Parari and Gurpur bridge.

The mishap took place at a narrow curve when a speeding lorry, in a bid to give way for another tipper to pass, collided against the tipper. The tipper was on its way to fetch another Hitachi lorry, while the lorry was transporting gravel stones

The edge of the front wheels of both lorries collided. Both front wheels of the tipper collapsed and the other lorry rolled over the side of the road breaking its main axle.

No major injuries were reported. Sharath, driver of the tipper suffered a minor head injury. There were three people in the tipper while the lorry contained two people including the driver.

Bajpe police registered a case.
