Mangalore, Mar 29: Now it is testing time for the teachers.  After the students answered the SSLC exams a week ago, now the evaluation of the same has started from Monday March 27 onwards.  But just as the students had magnitude of problems and confusions during the exams, evaluators too are facing a number of problems right at the beginning.

This is a clear indication that the officials of the High School Education Board have failed in their 'homework'.  Many of the evaluators have received the information at the eleventh hour to attend the evaluation.

Some of the city teachers who are supposed to be present in Bangalore on Monday March 27 morning had not received the order from the department even on Saturday March 25.  Pity is that some of them received the letter either on Saturday afternoon or evening.  Some of them then rushed to the school in the night to get the release letter since Sunday is a public holiday.

Back in city, evaluation is being held in 7 centres.  Ramakrishna High School at Karangalpady is the main evaluation centre in the district.  As per the earlier order 900 teachers were appointed for evaluation of 1, 94, 216 answer papers of 6 subjects.

However, the examination board has now decided to send more answer papers to the district but without any intimation about the appointment of evaluators.  So some of the teachers who were having some leisure hours without the evaluation schedule are now contacted at the last hour and summoned for evaluation.

The evaluation will go on till April 5 and results are expected by April 25.  But looking at the present state of affairs, it seems that evaluation and subsequent declaring of results may take extra time.
