Bangalore, Nov 13: In a calculated move to give fillip to the realty market, which has been struggling to pick due to the slump in economy, the State Cabinet on Wednesday has decided to allow transactions and registration of B Khata certificates (title deeds) buildings constructed on revenue lands in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.
A State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has permitted the BBMP to issue B Khata certificates to buildings/houses located on revenue land and enjoying electricity, water, drainage and other facilities. The decision would bring Rs 1,000 crore revenue to the Government.
Addressing presspersons on the Cabinet decisions, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the decision would allow re-sale of properties and boost the real estate market in the City.
Nearly 80 per cent of building owners in the City would benefit.
The BBMP would issue B Khata certificates only to existing buildings, he said.
A few months ago, the BBMP had stopped issue of B Khata certificates.
The B Khata are issued to the properties, which do not have proper title or the properties with deviation.
The properties under B Khata often change hands leading registrations may times resulting in good revenue for the Government.
Later, the property owners can obtain A Khata certificates by regularising their constructions under the Akrama Sakrama scheme by paying penalty to the government, he said.
The Cabinet has decided to provide a reply to Governor H R Bharadwaj on the Karnataka Land Revenue (Second Amendment) Bill, 2012, also known as the Akrama-Sakrama Bill, which was retuned to the Government earlier.
The Bill was passed in both the Houses of the Legislature during the previous BJP government. The Bill is aimed at regularising construction of houses on revenue lands in urban areas across the State.
The Cabinet decided to name the Bangalore City Railway Station to be named after freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna.
The Railway Board has made the proposal to the State Government and the Cabinet has accepted it.
The State Government has already installed a statue of Sangoli Rayanna in front of the City Railway Station.
A decision has also been taken to set up a solid waste management plant to MSGP Infra Tech Pvt Ltd at Doddaballapur, Jayachandra said.
The State Cabinet also decided to grant five acres of plot to the Koodalasangama Trust at Lokkur village in Bangalore Rural district and 1.29 acres to the Buddha Education Society at Doddabidarakalli in Yeshwathpur Hobli in Bangalore City.
