Udupi, Nov 14: The annual feast of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi was held on Wednesday, November 13 with devotion and fervor.
Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest, distributed festal candles to donors of the Eucharistic celebration.
Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, offered the festive Eucharistic mass along with Fr Fred Mascarenhas and deanery priests.
Fr Rocky D’ Souza, parish priest of Udyavar, delivered the homily during the holy mass. Parish choir group sang hymns in honor of Mother Mary. The festival was celebrated on the theme “Mother Mary is inspiration to build faithful family”.
Fr J B Sequeira, religious episcopal vicar presided over the vespers celebrations. Bishop of Udupi conducted the holy adoration. “Let our heart be lighted with God’s word” was the theme on the vespers night.
Leslie Fernandes inaugurated the newly built grotto of mother Mary in front of the church, prior to the mass. Bishop Dr Gerald blessed the new grotto.
Msgr Baptist Menezes, Fr Fred Mascarenhas, Fr Wilson D’ Souza, assistant parish priestm, Boniface D’ Souza, vice-president of parish pastoral council, Walter Monteiro, secretary of the council and other parishioners were present on the occasion.
Fr Fred Mascarenhas conveyed birthday wishes to Bishop of Udupi on behalf of the parishioners.
Confinity Sunday was celebrated on November 10 on the occasion of annual parish priest. Msgr Baptist Menezes was the main celebrant. Procession of the holy Eucharist was held in the heart of the city, after the mass.
