Calendars have a special place in India: Manish Tewari

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS): Though media has enhanced its reach through digital means, calendars as a tool of communication have always had a special place in India, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said Tuesday.

Tewari released a special calendar for 2014, detailing the government's flagship schemes.

He said the calendar as a tool of communication played an important role in disseminating information regarding the policies of the government.

This initiative of the government was a step to make people aware of policies that aimed to achieve inclusive growth in the governance process, he said.

The minister said people in rural areas always have a passion for wall calendars.

The calendar brought out by the government could serve as an important source of information for them.
