Modi congratulates ISRO on satellite launch

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): The BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Sunday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the successful launch of the GSLV D5 rocket carrying a communication satellite.

"I congratulate the scientists of ISRO for successfully launching the GSLV D5. My good wishes are with them," Modi said at the foundation day celebrations of yoga guru Baba Ramdev's Bharat Swabhiman Trust at the Talkatora stadium here.

The rocket successfully lifted off from the Sriharikota spaceport Sunday afternoon.

The Rs.365 crore launch mission has a twin purpose -- to flight-test the cryogenic engine designed and built by the ISRO, and to put in orbit the GSAT-14 communication satellite.
