Kuwait: KCWA hosts silver jubilee cricket cup

Kuwait, Mar 11: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), held 'KCWA Silver Jubilee Cricket Cup 2014' on Friday March 7 at Kuwait Cricket Association Grounds, Sulaibiya.

A total of 11 teams participated in the 6 over-a-side tournament, which was held exclusively for KCWA members only. Udupi Friends won the coveted trophy by winning the finals against Sharq United.

The tournament began at 7 am with vice-president of KCWA Deepak Andrade welcoming the teams and guests. In the first Semi-final Udupi Friends beat KICC-A by 10 wickets and in the second Semi-final Sharq United beat Little Flower-B by 30 runs. In the Finals Udupi Friends beat Sharq United by 9 wickets.

Rudy D’Souza, Deepak Andrade and Manohar Prabhu did the announcements and live commentary. Dr Manohar Prabhu, Naveen Mascarenhas, Alex Rego coordinated the event successfully. Alban, Winston and Joyston did the photography of the event. Zero Illuminations provided the sound system. All the Committee members gave their invaluable support to the success of the event.

Following are the results of 'KCWA Silver Jubilee Cricket Cup 2014'

Champions 2014 - Udupi Friends.
Runners up - Sharq United.

Best Batsman - Melvin from Udupi Friends
Best Bowler- Godwin from Udupi Friends 
Man of the Match(Finals)- Nithin from Udupi Friends 
Best All rounder- Nithin from Udupi Friends

Iqbal and Murali Kutticode did the Umpiring of the whole tournament who were also supported by Stephen Machado. Lloyd D’souza was the official Statistician/scorer of the tournament. Sumptuous breakfast and lunch was provided by M & M Confectioners.

The tournament ended with the prize distribution ceremony. Ida D’silva, Richard Nazareth, Rudy D’souza, Stephen B Machado and Murali Kutticode distributed the prizes.
