Dubai, March 11 (IANS): A Sri Lankan maid in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been jailed for six months for stealing jewellery worth 55,000 dirhams (about $14,974) from her Indian sponsor's flat.

The maid was arrested with luggage while fleeing the country after allegedly stealing the jewellery from her sponsor's flat in Dubai, the Gulf News reported Monday.
