Media Release

Dubai, Mar 12: 'Dhwani'  known for unique Kannada programs among Kannadiga’s  celebrated the 100th birth year of one of the proudest sons of Karnataka Kayyara Kinnanna Rai by conducting a Kavigoshti at Quick Bite restaurant in Dubai  recently.

The octogenarian kannada activist was living and breathing Kannada and tulu languages throughout his life. He firmly believed that injustice was done to Karnataka as well as to Kasargod by including Kasargod in Kerala State.  He has protested his life for this cause but his voice was not heard at the government levels.

The Kavi Goshti was attended by Iranna Mulimani,  Arshad Hussain,  Irshad Moodabidri,  Gopinath Rao,  Madhusudan and  Prakash Rao Payyar presided over. Ganesh Rai narrated beautifully the life and literature of Kayaara Kinnanna Rai and also the efforts put in by him to hold the Kannada flag high during his active days from his youthin the 1920s to as recently as year 2010.

A programme was also arranged to honour Madhusudan and  Jayashree Madhusudan  who are planning to return to Karnataka after decades of residence here in UAE.  Madhusudan was the secretary of 'Dhwani'  for the last six years and he had meticulously planned each and every program organised by dhwani prathisthaana during this period. A soft spoken person, he would take everyone along and plan programmes in a beautiful manner that other members loved to work with him.

James Mendonca of Reliable Fabricators, Sathish Venkataramana of Chillywilly and  Herman Lewis of Radio spice were the chief guests for the felicitation program. Vinay Kumar Naik read out the  letter of honour. Madhusudhan and Jayashree Madhusudan was honoured with  Peta, Shawl, Fruits, Momentoes and a citation.
