Andhra couple arrested for killing techie daughter

Hyderabad, March 24 (IANS): A couple was arrested for allegedly murdering their young software engineer daughter for marrying outside their caste in Andhra Pradesh.

P. Hari Babu and Samrajyam, who were absconding since Sunday, were arrested by the police in Guntur.

Pachala Deepthi (25), who had married her colleague against the wishes of her parents, was found murdered Sunday within hours after returning home from Hyderabad.

The parents, who had brought her home by promising to honour their marriage in the presence of relatives and friends, allegedly strangled her to death after tying her to the bed.

The murder came to light after Deepthi's husband A. Kiran Kumar went to their home.

Deepthi, a software engineer with an IT firm in Hyderabad, fell in love with her Kiran Kumar, who hails from in East Godavari district.

Kiran Kumar, who joined a multinational firm in the US last year, and Deepthi decided to marry but the girl's parents opposed the alliance.

After failing to convince her parents, Deepthi married Kiran at the Arya Samaj office in Hyderabad Friday. Her parents rushed to Hyderabad the next day and took the couple to Guntur by promising to solemnise the marriage in the presence of relatives and friends.

They made Kiran and his friends stay in a hotel and took their daughter home, where they executed the murder plan.

Police said Deepthi's parents fled after killing her.
