Doha: KSQ to host 'Karnataka Cup' cricket tourney from Apr 5

Doha, Mar 31: Karnataka Sangha Qatar announces its fifth  Open Cricket Tournament 'Karnataka Cup 2014' , the most sought after cricket tournament  among cricket fraternity in Qatar, from April 5 to April 17 at Old Ideal School Ground. ksq_310314-1  to  27
 
This year, high –ranking Qatari Officials and a host of other dignitaries and community leaders are expected to attend the high-voltage, opening ceremony scheduled on April 5 6:30pm.

On March 26 the group fixtures for the tournament were  held at Grand Qatar Palace Hotel. Participating team captains, team managers and KSQ organizing committee members, prominent members of the community  were present.

On this occassion KSQ  honored Young Raising Tennis Star Nikshep B R from Karnataka, Bengaluru who was in Doha taking part in QTF Tournament, for his dedication and contribution to game of Tennis. He is currently ranked No.1 in India, Under 16 and No.2 in under 18 category. Nikshep thanked KSQ for supporting him in playing in Qatar by sponsoring his stay .

Sports secretary, Anil Boloor initiated the meeting and president of KSQ,  Deepak Shetty while welcoming the gathering,  gave brief insight into KSQ activities in Qatar.

He spoke in length about 'Karnataka Cup Cricket  Tournament' and its achievements over the years, which has made KSQ  house a hold name in Qatar. He also anounced that Subramaniam Badrinath, who played for India in both Tests and One day Internationals  would be the guest of honour for this years finals. He recalled the presence of Sayyed Kirmani, Sadananda Vishwanath, Gundappa Vishwanath & Sunil Joshi in previous years and wished all participating teams good luck for the tournament. 

Alma Aluminium Qatar & Al-muftah Contracting are the main sponsors of the tournament . Doha Bank, QDC and  Petrofac Qatar are associate sponsors of the tournament. President, Deepak Shetty, specifically remembered the contribution of Shri.M Chidanand Naik-GM of M Pallonji for his contribution in organizing this tournament over the years.

Sports Secretary-Anil Boloor did compering, VP-Nagesh Rao introduced Nikshep, Zafar Abbasi,Committee Member explained Rules and Regulations, Dr.Sanjay-Main coordinator hanlded Q&A session and general secretary did vote of thanks.

Mannangi, past president and GM of Al Muftah Contracting, Satich , executive manager- QDC were on the dais. Arun Kumar,past president, Niaz Ahmad-president KMCA and other officials of KSQ and other Karnataka based organizations were present.

There are 12 teams participating in the tournament, and they are as follows:

The matches will commence at the Ideal School Grounds on April  5 6:30pm . All the participating teams are requested to be present on time for the grand opening ceremony at Old Ideal Indian School Ground on 5th April, at 6:30pm sharp.

The match schedule would be announced after the opening ceremony. KSQ has appealed to all the cricket lovers in Qatar to come and watch the spectacular tournament and extend their whole-hearted support to the participating teams.

    HANAN Cricket team will win the tournament.
    HANAN team has good star players from Udupi, Padubedri and Kundapur. All are Al-Rounders and specially 2 spinners from Udupi district, and I am sure they will win
