Udupi, Jun 15: The Kaup police on Wednesday June 14 arrested Valerian Castelino, a resident of Shankarpura with regard to the death of his housemaid Shilpa.
Shilpa (14), daughter of Lakkappa and Hanumavva of Haveri origin was working in Valerian's Castelino's house at Shankarpura near Katpadi here for sometime. However, she died at KMC Hospital, Manipal on Tuesday June 13. Her parents who reside in the city, however, picketed Kaup police station on accusing that Shilpa was poisoned to death by her employer Valerian. Their fellow migrant workers too joined them in picketing the police station.
Following this the Kaup police arrested Valerian Castelino on Wednesday. He was later produced before the court which in turn remanded him to 10 days judicial custody.
