The railway track between Hassan-Sakleshpur and Subramanya to city is ready for passenger train operation, with the work the on gauge conversion nearing completion.

Presently, goods trains have been running on these tracks to provide stability to the lines.

Though the commissioner of railway safety is yet to give his clearance, it is expected that passenger trains may start functioning on these tracks by year-end.

The commissioner will conduct an inspection of the tracks and detailed study will be done regarding safety as the tracks pass through steep hills and curves with about 53 tunnels.
