Mangalore, Jun 16: Inspector Jayant Shetty is back to the district. It is quite sure this news is quite bitter to anti-social elements who have made the district a den of criminals and domain of criminal activities. Many part-time as well as full-time goons and rowdies and gangster would do their best to transfer Jayant out from the district.

Jayant Shetty has a special name and place in the police department of the district.  While he was the circle inspector of Bunder police station in late nineties he had been a nightmare to anti-social elements. He had brought anti-social activities, communal clashes under control while being the head of the Anti Rowdy Squad.

It was inspector Jayant Shetty who had changed the image of Anti Rowdy Squad.  However, owing to several factors he was later moved out of the district. Though in this present stint in the district he would not be heading the Anti Rowdy Squad, it is now headed by equally efficient Vinay Gaonkar, he has been posted at Ullal police station which is considered to be a very sensitive area in many ways.

Jayant Shetty took charge of Ullal police station from inspector M K Ganapati on Friday June 16 morning.  Ganapati has been transferred to Bantwal town station.

As reported earlier in these columns major re-shuffle has been ordered in the district police department.  However, some of the efficient and capable cops such as Venkatesh Prasanna of Pandeshwar, Vinay Gaonkar of Bunder station and Kodandaram of Panambur will retain their place.

With Venkatesh Prasanna, Vinay Gaonkar, Kodandaram and Jayant Shetty taking charge of prominent police stations in and around the city, public have a lot of expectations from them.  These have already proved their mettle despite constant interfering in their job by politicians.
