Kasargod, Jun 18: A festive atmosphere turned silent. Celebrations ceased and mourning began.
This is what happened in the Chatamjal Machipuram here on Saturday Jun 18 when two children were drowned in the swimming pool.
It was the occasion of the christening of a child of the family and thus the family members gathered in the house of a relative.
Krishna Nayar’s daughter Krishna Priya (12) and her aunt’s daughter Munnadi Cheripadi Greena (12) were playing in the house. The huge bungalow had a newly constructed swimming pool and the children stepped into the pool for a swim.
After several hours of preparations for the christening ceremony, the families noticed that the children were missing. The families began searching for them and finally found them dead in the pool.
After conducting post mortem, the dead bodies were laid to rest in the vicinity of the house.
