Trinamool candidate Arpita Ghosh again questioned by ED

Kolkata, April 28 (IANS): Trinamool Congress candidate Arpita Ghosh, contesting from West Bengal's Balurghat in South Dinajpur district, Monday appeared for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the multi-crore rupee Saradha chit fund scam.

This is the second time that the theatre personality appeared before the ED. She had appeared for questioning Friday after she was summoned by the central agency.

Ghosh, a former employee of the Saradha Group's media arm, had filed a complaint against company promoter Sudipta Sen for non-payment of salaries which eventually led to his arrest in 2013.

Coming out of the ED office here, Ghosh refused to comment.

"Why don't you ask ED officials," she told media persons.

The Saradha scam, which came to light in April 2013 is back in the limelight after ED arrested Sen's wife and son. The opposition including the Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool government while the ruling party too has hit back.

Along with Sudipta and several of his cronies, suspended Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh too is behind bars in connection with the scam.
