Mangaluru, Nov 1: The Department of Women and Child Development has sounded a note of caution to beneficiaries of the state government's Gruha Lakshmi scheme following reports of unauthorised surveys being conducted in certain areas, with individuals allegedly seeking one-time passwords (OTPs) and bank account details in the name of the scheme.
Clarifying the position, the department stated that the re-verification of applications submitted by Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries is being undertaken in accordance with government orders and the prescribed procedure.
As part of the official re-verification process, beneficiaries are required to enter the mobile phone number linked to their Aadhaar card in the application.

The Aadhaar-linked mobile number is necessary to establish the beneficiary's identity and complete the authentication process through an OTP.
However, the department has made it clear that it has not yet initiated any re-verification exercise.
In view of reports that unauthorised individuals are approaching beneficiaries in some areas under the pretext of conducting Gruha Lakshmi surveys and seeking OTPs and bank-related information, the Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Development has urged the public to exercise caution.
Beneficiaries have been specifically advised not to share OTPs, bank account details or any other personal information with such individuals. The department has cautioned the public against responding to requests for sensitive information in the name of the scheme until an official re-verification process is announced.
