Six people killed in separate incidents in Pakistan

Islamabad, May 13 (IANS): At least six people, including two security personnel, were killed in separate incidents of firing in Pakistan's northwest and southern provinces Tuesday, Xinhua cited a local news report as saying.

Two people were killed and one other was injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at a car in Dehli colony area of Karachi, the capital of southern Sindh province, Xinhua reported Tuesday.

The bodies and the injured man were shifted to a nearby hospital where the deceased were identified as a well-known doctor and his driver. The injured man was said to be a passerby.

Police said that the doctor was on his way home from hospital when he was attacked by unknown armed men who fled the scene after the incident.

In another incident, two Coast Guard personnel were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire at them in the Gwadar free trade port city in southwestern Balochistan province.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a separate incident Tuesday morning, two teachers were killed on their way to school in Hangu, a district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police said that the high school teachers were Shia Muslims and were gunned down due to their differences in religious beliefs with some orthodox Sunni Muslims in the area.

Angry protesters blocked the Hangu Kohat Road to protest the killing of the teachers due to which the traffic remained blocked for several hours.

No group claimed responsibility for killing the teachers.
