China's walking festival attracts 15,000 people


Beijing, May 24 (IANS): The northern Chinese city of Qinhuangdao inaugurated an international walking festival Saturday, which attracted 15,000 people.

The participating walkers came from China, the United States, Japan, Rwanda, Pakistan and other countries, reports Xinhua.

The annual festival, launched in 2005, featured three events -- 5km, 10km and 20km.

Other Chinese cities such as Harbin, Qingdao and Xi'an will also host walking festivals.
