Belman (Karkala), July 12: As the day rolls by,  sad news from around the regions keeps mounting, especially the tragic blast which has snatched so many innocent lives. The latest in the list is the tragic news of a young and promising  lad a dynamic youth leader from Belman – Avinash D’Souza whose death  in a most unexpected manner has left the youth community in Belman and  around dumbstruck and shocked.

Avinash Victor D`Souza, son of Albert (Abbu, brother of late Lucas, Benna, teacher Anjeline and teacher Jessie) and Anne D`Souza and brother of George D`Souza.) was an 18-year-old second year PUC student at the Pompei Junior College Aikala Kirem He  passed away at the Fr Muller's Hospital Kankanady on July 12, 2006 at 2.30p.m

Avinash a bright student  was an active youth leader and a member of ICYM Belman.  He actively participated  in last Sunday's ICYM Udupi Cup award ceremony and celebrated the success of his unit in Udupi.

Close sources said that few months back Avinash was bitten by his own house dog but at that time, no major problem was foreseen. A normal injection to treat the dog bite was administered to him  but since few days ago he was facing strange symptoms of feeling scared of sound of crackers, water etc. Yesterday he suddenly fell unconscious and  was immediately rushed to the hospital in Mangalore but unfortunately death was awaiting him and he breathed his last this afternoon.

It was only later learnt the dog had rabies and had died 3 days later after biting Avinash.
This news is a bolt from the blue not only to his dear parents who are in a state of shock but also to the staff and students of the ICYM unit and  his entire circle of friends.

"This is just unbelievable,  and it is a sad and tragic end of a charismatic and talented young lad who had a promising career ahead. We can't do anything except mourn his great loss" said his class mate in Pompei PU College

Avinash's father Albert who is presently residing in Saudi Arabia is rushing back to son’s funeral on hearing the heart breaking news.

Funeral details will be announced later
