Udupi, Jul 16: The tragic death of Rathan Pinto in a road mishap in Mangalore was a warning bell to the district administrations of the twin districts to attend to the pathetic condition of the roads.

On Saturday another gory accident here has left the public in a state of shock.

Two youth riding on a motor bike died on the spot when a tanker hit them at Uppinakote Kumbragodu on National High way 17 on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred when the bike which was on its way from Udupi skid while trying to dodge a pothole. The bike crashed right under the tanker and was crushed.

Both the riders died on the spot.

One of the deceased has been identified as Vasu from Peenya Dasarahalli of Bangalore. He was a mechanic and was riding the bike. The pillion rider who has still not been identified is said to be from Kundapur.

The duo was carrying one bag of coconuts.

The tanker driver and cleaner are absconding from the scene of accident.
