Kundapur, Jul 16: The police team headed by Kundapur Circle Inspector Valentine D’Souza obtained a major breakthrough by arresting three interstate dacoits on Friday.

The Kundapur police have taken 3 accused into custody for their attempt to loot Corporation Bank, Hosangady branch.

The arrested were identified as Kundapur taluk Yadamoge resident Harish Shetty (22), Dharmendra (25) of Belgaum and a native of Uttar Pradesh and resident of Belgaum Santhosh Singh Rajput (24).

Speaking to press persons here on Saturday, Kundapur Cirlce Inspector Valentine D’Souza said that the police team intercepted a motorcycle with three persons and during the search obtained a computer keyboard.

Further during the interrogation, the trio confessed that they were involved with an interstate gang. The cops have recovered Rs 1.5 lac worth stolen material from them. One among the arrested has been involved in numerous robbery cases in and around Belgaum, while Santhosh Singh is a kingpin in bank robbery.

They have been booked under IPC 511, 457 and 380 sections.
