Bantwal, Jul 17: An eleven-year-old school girl was killed after a scooter she was travelling rolled down the gorge at Kupradi near here on Sunday Jul 17 night.
Sahana Shetty (11), daughter of Harish Shetty of Sri Ramnagar near here was going to the town along with her uncle Hariprasad on a Kinetic scooter on Sunday evening when the accident occurred.
Hariprasad who was riding the scooter lost control over the vehicle after scooter skidded. As a result, scooter rolled down to a gorge seriously injuring Hariprasad and Sahana. They were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.
However, Sahana succumbed to the injuries later in the hospital. Hariprasad's condition is said to be very critical and is still fighting for life.
Sahana was a class VI student of SVS School here. Other than her excellent academic record, she was also involved in various co-curricular activities. She was recently selected for state level chess tournament too.
Bantwal town police have registered a case in this regard.
