Kundapur, Jul 19: A rickshaw from Kota was set on fire by unidentified persons at Hunsemakki near here on Tuesday July 18 night. The rickshaw driver too was assaulted in the incident.
Four unidentified men who approached Santhosh as passengers at the rickshaw stand at Kota and asked him drop them to Hunsemakki. Though Santhosh told them that he would not come to Kundapur since it was already late in the evening, they forced him to come along.
As they reached Yedtady-Matyady near Hunsemakki, one of the passengers asked Santhosh to stop the rickshaw. As soon as he stopped rickshaw, one of them snatched mobile from Santhosh while others tried to strangle him to death.
But Santhosh managed to escape from them and fled the place. He hid himself near a home in the same vicinity. Meanwhile, the four persons who attacked Santhosh set his rickshaw on fire. They later got into a private bus and left the place.
It is said that before they left the place they called up a person at Kumbhashi from STD booth. The police are in search to nab this person.
Santhosh has now filed a case with the Kota police in this regard.
