Philippines lifts ban on workers' deployment to Thailand

Manila, June 16 (IANS): The Philippines government Monday lifted the deployment ban of Filipino workers to Thailand.

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it also lowered its crisis alert level from 2 to 1, Xinhua reported.

Under alert level 1, Filipinos in Thailand are advised to take necessary precautions, the department said.

"Given the continuing normalisation of the political situation in Thailand, including the lifting of the curfew nationwide last June 13, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario lowered the crisis alert level from 2 to 1," the DFA said.

The ban on the deployment of Filipino workers overseas, whether returning or newly-hired, will also be lifted, it added.
