German experts train Kenyan police to fight terrorists

Nairobi, Jun 17 (IANS): German experts have begun training Kenyan police officers in fighting terrorism, a media report said Tuesday.

The June 16-20 workshop held in the coastal city of Mombasa involves investigation after terrorist attacks, Xinhua quoted a statement from the Germany embassy in Nairobi as saying.

The statement said the police officers will also be trained in establishing facts, investigations via the internet, the fight against cyber crimes and data processing after major incidents.

Since 2009, the German Federal Criminal Police Office has supported the Kenyan criminal police forces with a number of workshops, training and equipment.

"As a result of this, German Ambassador Andreas Peschke will officially hand over motorbikes, office equipment and professional equipment for securing crimes scenes to Kenyan police officials and representatives of Mombasa County," the statement said.
