Beltangady, Jul 21: In yet another property dispute ending in death, a person was killed by his younger brother at Eliya-Nadugodu near here on Wednesday July 19 night.

Padma Gowda alias Padmanabh Gowda (40), a resident of Yennaje near Siddhakatte in Bantwal taluk was stabbed to death by his younger brother Janardhan Gowda on Wednesday night.

Though the murder took place on Wednesday night, the police came to know about the incident only on Thursday July 20 after Padmanabh's wife Pushpa lodged a complaint in the Venur police station which is 16-18 kilometres away from their house.

On Wednesday night, Padmanabh, his wife Pushpa and their parents were getting ready to sleep after their supper when, Padmanabh's younger brother Janardhan came.  He then picked up a verbal quarrel with Padmanabh over a long pending property dispute.

But when Padmanabh did not care him, Janardhan stabbed the former with a sharp iron weapon.  As a result, Padmanabh sustained injuries on his chest and breathed his last on the spot owing to excess bleeding.

It is said that both the brothers were neighbours and had a dispute over a piece of ancestoral land.

Venur police have registered a case in this regard.
