Sheena Chohan nominated for best actress at Shanghai film fest


Chennai, June 20 (IANS): Indian actress Sheena Chohan will slug it out with Hollywood stars Keira Knightley and Kate Beckinsale for the best actress award with her Bangladeshi film “Ant Story” at the ongoing 17th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Sheena’s film was also screened recently at the fest for The Golden Goblet competition section.

Confirming the news. filmmaker Shekhar Kapur tweeted Friday: “Congratulations @SheenaChohan for being nominated best actress at prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival for 'Ant Story'. Terrific (sic)”.

Sheena feels honoured with the recognition.

“I am so grateful to everyone for appreciating the film and my performance. It is an honor to be a part of this great film. Moreover, representing India in the competition category is indeed a great feeling again,” she said in a statement.

“Ant Story”, written and directed by Asia Pacific screen award winner Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, has also been nominated in the best picture category.

Farooki will accompany Sheena on the Red Carpet for the award ceremony, which will be hosted by, among others, John Woo and Jackie Chan on June 22.
