Udupi, Jul 22: DCIB police led by inspector C E Thimmaiah arrested John Rodrigues Martin alias Rony (39), a resident of Mission Compound here with regards to the spurious liquor case on Thursday July 20.
DCIB police raided the house of the late Sarvothama Salian at Mission Compound near Kedinje here after receiving a sure tip off about the spurious liquor den being operated from there.
Though the police managed to arrest John, the other accused Chuchchu alias Sudarshan escaped. The police also seized seized 4 cans of 35 liters capacity which were filled with spirit. In addition 125 arrack packets, 9 empty cans of 35 liters capacity and 5 plastic roles total worth Rs. 10,000/ were seized.
The case is handed over to Karkala Rural police for further investigation.
