Mangalore, Jul 22: A meet on Natural Disaster Prevention was held at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Friday July 22.
Speaking at the meet Srikanth, Mysore division development commissioner, said that the district administration should steps to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from floods, land slides and sea erosion. Assistance from Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mysore, can be had in this regard. The district administration should keep a check on the various factors hampering the developments in the region, he added.
While financial support from the union government is awaited, a plan has been chalked out to confront the problem of sea erosion.
Infrastructure in the region should be improved to pave the way for the establishment of Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Quoting Health Department officials he informed about the steps taken to control the outbreak of epidemics like malaria and chikangunya.
