New Delhi: Trespass near PM House - Sahara Sacks Two Airhostesses

PTI report (Thursday, 10-55 pm)

New Delhi, Jul 27: In a serious breach of security, three youngsters drove up to one of the inner gates of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence on Thursday night.

A boy and two girls, one of them driving a black luxury car, drove up to the alighting point at the Prime Minister's 7, Race Course Residence, after passing through security cordon at the main gate.

Surprised Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel stopped the vehicle at the alighting point from where ministers and visitors are escorted into a ferry vehicle inside and asked the youngsters, all in their twenties, who they were.

One of the three occupants, a young woman who was behind the wheel, said they were from Jaipur and thought they could meet the Prime Minister.

The woman also said she told security men to check her car, but it was not searched.

The woman says her name is Yogita and she is an airhostess with Sahara Airlines. Security officials are questioning the youngsters, reports said.

"We are commoners. We want to meet the Prime Minister," one of the girls, who got out of the car bearing number DL 4C V 006 told the SPG personnel.

"Do you have an appointment," they were asked.

"No," was the reply. "Then you cannot see him now," the youths were told and shown the way out by unsuspecting SPG personnel.

But a group of surprised journalists waiting for a briefing on a meeting of the Union Cabinet which was in progress saw the youngsters casually blowing kisses at the Prime Minister`s residence.

As the car returned, they intercepted it to inquire as to what was their mission.

They said they wanted to meet the Prime Minister and drove away after creating a flutter.

After some questioning by journalists, who face tough security checks at the Prime Minister`s residence, asked the SPG personnel about the drama.

Suddenly, the SPG personnel realized the seriousness of the situation and alerted the Delhi Police which flashed a message across the city to trace the black Hyundai Sonata.

One version was that the youngsters were apparently drunk but there was no confirmation.
