Ajmer, Jul 27: A fast track court here on Thursday sentenced Babloo, the main accused in the Japanese woman rape case, to seven years' rigorous imprisonment and his mother and brother to that of three years.
Sanjay, another brother of Babloo, and his friend Raju Sahi, whi were among the total five accused in the case registered under sections 376, 420 and 120-B of IPC, were acquitted by Additional District Judge Mahaveer Prasad Sharma.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Babloo and of Rs 2,000 each on his mother Roshni and brother Raju.
Son of a hotel owner, Babloo had raped and looted the Japanese tourist after administering her some intoxicating drink at Pushkar on April two this year.
The woman had faxed her complaint to the Superintendent of Police, Ajmer from Agra on April 18 which said she was raped by the 22-year-old youth and also robbed of Rs 54,000 by him.
The Japanese embassy had later rushed to Agra to record the woman`s statement.
After initial hearing in the Pushkar Munsif court, the case had been referred to the district judge here for further hearing. It was later sent to the fast track court.
The Rajasthan High Court had earlier granted bail to four of the five accused in the alleged rape case while rejecting the bail plea of Babloo. It had also released his mother Roshni, and brothers Raju and Sanjay and friend Raju Sahi.
This was the second case of rape of a foreigner this year. The son of a top Orissa cadre IPS officer was sentenced to seven-year rigorous RI for raping a German tourist at Alwar in April, 2006.
B H Mohanti, an MBA student, was sentenced by the fast track court, Alwar, on April 12 on the charge of raping the 26-year-old research scholar from Berlin on the intervening night of March 20-21 in the hotel.
