New Delhi, Jul 30: The government on Sunday said former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh had not named the ''mole'' in his letter to prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Prime minister's office spokesman Sanjaya Baru told reporters Dr Singh had written to Jaswant Singh asking him to disclose the US mole during P V Narasimha Rao's tenure.

Jaswant Singh, whose book 'A call to honour' is in the eye of a storm, had on Saturday said in Mumbai that he had sent a letter to Dr Singh containing the description of the mole in the PMO during the Narasimha Rao regime.

Dear Shri Jaswant Singhji:

I have received your letter of 28th July regarding an informant in the PMO in the mid 90s. Simultaneously, I find that a copy of the letter has been published in the latest issue of India Today. The document which you sent is not an original and has no signature or letterhead. The alleged informant is not named nor is there any confirmation that the person was from the PMO. If you have any further information in this regard you may wish to disclose it to the public. I am, however, suprised that the material sent by you was in your possession when you were a member of the Union Council of Ministers and still you did not share it with my predecessor.

With Regards

Yours sincerely

Manmohan Singh
