Mumbai / New Delhi, Aug 2:
The Indian Railways will introduce a telephone helpline to provide up-to-date information about train services, a top official said on Tuesday.

A telephone number will be in service in six to eight months for answering all queries from passengers about train services, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) Managing Director PK Goel said in Mumbai.

"We will outsource the task but the financial aspects of the project are yet to be decided," he said.

Goel was here to commission new modular stalls at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and trolleys for service in the Rajdhani and August Kranti express trains.

Meanwhile, IRCTC will rope in Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and other private organisations to draw up attractive tourism packages for the western part of the country that will mainly target domestic tourists.
