TV official booked for sexually harassing colleague


Gurgaon, July 11 (IANS): A programme head of a private news channel here has been booked for sexually harassing a colleague, police said Friday.

Sandeep Mishra, programme head of private news channel Eyewitness here in Sector 44, has been booked under Sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

A case was registered at Sushant Lok police station after a news anchor of the channel reported the sexual harassment by Mishra.

"Mishra targeted women colleagues in the office and usually talked and sent obscene messages on mobile phone. Besides me, three other women colleagues were victimised by him," the woman said in her complaint.

The accused was removed from his job by the TV channel after the complaint.

"We have registered the case against Mishra and are conducting raids for his arrest," a senior police officer said.
